This Tour is a walk through the most celebrated and famous areas of Old Calcutta that have stood the test of time and have been local favorites among thousand of others. This tour is not an Air conditioned bubble with VIP access to tick off a bucket list of temples, but a very honest attempt to portray how locals enjoy the festival through temple visits, food, friends and rituals. Traveling through various local transport modes, talking about mythology, art, history and indulging in great street food, this tour gives you an authentic Durga Pujo experience like a Local.

Calcutta’s version of the festival of lights Diwali is also a Local festival called Kali Puja. Amidst the rituals and firecrackers is a world of heritage and traditions that people wait for the entire year. The tour dives into such places that enable our guests to make the most of being in Calcutta during Diwali. Be it on the streets, in the markets, secret rooftop or watching an annual lantern festival.

( visiting makeshift temples – 2-3 temples)
*Rituals for the festival
* Overview of the festival with mythological and historical narrative of the festival
*Watching the celebration of the festival in 2 different neighborhoods involving 2 different communities.

- Please reach tour starting point on time. Tour party will not wait for anyone after the tour start time. Reaching the start point late may lead to cancellation of ticket.

A great experience to immerse yourself in the Durga Puja festivities.
This visit allowed me to see various pandals (ephemeral temples) and see where the statues are made.
Luckily I did the tour on the last day when the statues are immersed in the Hoogly River
